Dhikr and Tasbih After Prayers

After performing the obligatory prayers, we are strongly encouraged to tasbih, Dhikr, Takbir, and istighfar.

It is not good if, after the prayer, we continue to get up and leave without being followed by Tasbih (glorification of Allah), Dhikr (remembrance of Allah), and dua after salah (supplication).

Usually, after the prayer, we are encouraged to glorify others to fulfill the Prophet Muhammad SAW’s advice.

Here I arrange the simple steps you can follow to do Dhikr after prayers:

1. Start the Dhikr after salah with istighfar

To get more rewards, let us practice every time we finish performing the obligatory prayers with the istighfar speech below three (3) times:

Dhikr after salah

Astagfirullah Hal ‘Azim Allazi Laa ilaa Ha illaa Huwal Hayyul Qoyyum Wa AtuuBu ilaih. (3 times)

Meaning:

I ask forgiveness from Allah, the Almighty God. There is no God but Allah. He lives, stands by Himself, and I ask His forgiveness.

2. Next, Dhikr is continued with the following speech 3 or 10 times:

Dhikr after salah

Laa ilaaHa illallaHu WahDahu Laa Syarikalah, Lahul-mulku Walahul-hamdu Yuhyi Wayumitu Wahuwa ‘Alaa Kulli Syai’in Qadirr

Meanings:

There is no god but Allah, the One True. There is no partner for Him. To Him belong all kingdoms and Him all praises. He gives life and causes death. He is the Almighty over all things.

3. Continued with the following speech 3 or 7 times:

Dhikr after salah

 Allahumma Ajirna Minannarr

Meanings:

O Allah, keep us away from the torment of Hell.

4. Next, Dhikr continued with a speech of:

Dhikr after salah

Allahumma antassalam, wamin kassalam, Wa Ilayka ya ‘udussalam, fahayyina rabbana bissalam, Wa adkhilnal Jannata daa rassalam, tabarakta rabbana wata ‘aalaita ya zal jala li wal ikram

Meanings:

O Allah, You save, from You salvation to You return salvation. To revive us, O God, in safety. Enter us into heaven, the land of security. So sanctify You, O our Lord, the God of greatness and glory.

5. Next, continued with the recitation of Al-Fatihah

Dhikr after salah

 Bismillāhir-raḥmānir-raḥīm. Al-ḥamdu lillāhi rabbil-‘ālamīn. Ar-raḥmānir-raḥīm. Māliki yaumid-dīn. Iyyāka na‘budu wa iyyāka nasta‘īn. Ihdinaṣ-ṣirāṭal-mustaqīm. Sirāṭallażīna an‘amta ‘alaihim, ghairil-magḍūbi ‘alaihim wa laḍ-ḍāllīn.

Meanings:

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. [All] praise is [due] to Allah, Lord of the worlds. The Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful, Sovereign of the Day of Recompense. It is You we worship and You we ask for help. Guide us to the straight path. The path of those upon whom You have bestowed favor, not of those who have evoked [Your] anger or of those who are astray.

Meanings:

Allah – there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.

Meanings:

Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity. It will have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what [evil] it has earned. “Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. Meanings:

O Dzat who reverses the heart and vision, set our hearts on Your religion.

3. In the book at-Tirmizi, Amarah bin Syabib said, the Prophet SAW said:

doa ringkas maghrib 3

Laa Ilaha Illallahu Wahdahu Laa SyariiKalah, Lahul-Mulku Walahul-Hamdu, Yuhyi Wayumitu Wahuwa ‘Ala Kulli Syai’in Qodir (10 times)

Meanings:

Who reads, “There is no god to be worshiped except Allah alone who has no partner for Him. To Him belongs all kingdoms and to Him belongs all praise. He is the All-Living, the All-Dead, and He is All-Powerful” 10 times after Maghrib, surely Allah will send a team of armed angels who guard him against the devil until morning, Allah will give ten rewards that send him to heaven, removing ten sins that harmed it, and the reading was of equal value by liberating ten believing servants.

Conclusion: The Importance of Dua (Supplication)

One of the excellent and beautiful names of Allah is al-Sami’

Allah Almighty hears the groans, complaints, worries, and expressions of feelings from His servants at all times, places, and times.

Among the voices that God loves most other than His repentant servants’ cries are the prayers of His servants who ask.

God is loyal to hear the groans of His servants like lovers.

People who do not pray can be considered arrogant towards God.

He directly does not acknowledge the qualities of his low, poor, ignorant, and despicable servitude.

We must make dua.

We must make Dua prove the nature of our servitude before Allah SWT.

As servants, we need God more than anything in this life.

I hope this guide is helpful to you.
